TUESDAY May 10

 “An Evening
with the Madrigals”

Grand Ledge Opera House
May 10, 2016
7:30pm

The Grand Ledge High School Madrigal Singers will be presenting their program of music at the Grand Ledge Opera House at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th.  The performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Opera House who appreciate your support.

The madrigal singers are a group of Grand Ledge High School students who love music and have been singing for most of their Junior and Senior High School years in various singing groups.  The Madrigals are an auditioned choir, and along with being the top group at the high school, they are considered to be one of the top ensembles in the area. They sang at the prestigious Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids in the past when there were only four choirs for the entire state invited to sing. They also performed at the beautiful Fountain Street Church and had a wonderful experience.

The Madrigals are conducted by Sheri Tulloch. At Grand Ledge High School she directs seven choirs, five of which meet during school and two that meet after school.  She also directs the all-school musicals each year.

The program will include classical as well as contemporary selections that should satisfy the musical tastes of most people that enjoy a cappella singing. Performances will also include several solos.  The program will be held in the Grand Hall of the historic Opera House which has excellent acoustics.

The Grand Ledge Opera House is located in downtown Grand Ledge at the corner of Bridge & River Street alongside the Grand River.  Tickets are $8 for Adults & $6 for Students. Tickets are available in Grand Ledge at MacDowell’s Fireplace & Flower Shop, ACE Hardware and the Grand Ledge Opera House.

Artist of the Month
Tam Wolfe
Ledge Craft Lane's - Artist of the Month for May

Tam has worked in all facets of the Art world.  Born in Wisconsin and raised in Michigan, she attended Lansing Community College and graduated from Michigan State University in 1979, majoring in Studio Arts and receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts with emphasis in clay and metals.

Tam’s show of her past printmaking projects at Ledge Craft Lane is a first time showing of artworks never exhibited. She has chosen to open her archives and frame them for the first time here. Tam has always been a potter and has sold her work as early as high school right here at Ledge Craft Lane.

Tam moved to California in 1980 and learned how to create glass art which she did for the next 30 years.  She was an apprentice in a glassblowing house and always maintained her own studio for glassworks and jewelry making.  For the last 15 years Tam was the full time production manager for AMRI glass art studio doing sandblasted panels.

Tam has recently moved back to her roots and again sells her clay pieces here in the upstairs consignment area at Ledge Craft Lane. She also does custom orders. She is currently teaching Art full time at a local school.

The public is invited to Tam’s Artist Reception on Saturday, May 21st from 2-4pm. However, feel free anytime to stop in to Ledge Craft Lane, 120 S. Bridge St., Grand Ledge to see Tam’s never-before-seen impressive print work.  Ledge Craft Lane is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10am-5pm.
